The N Line is a genuine, smile-inducing sports sedan. Charlotte, in turn, explains the reasons for the way that she is in life. Under the hood of the sporty Sonata N Line is a 2.5-liter turbo-four producing an impressive 290 hp and 311 lb-ft. That unhappiness also has affected the way she views her marriage. As Eva spends more time with her mother, who she believes is a calculating woman whose actions always have a meaning behind them, her feelings from childhood re-emerge, of which she tells her mother and which she knows have shaped the unhappy person she is today. Apart from the vastly long speeches sometimes, Autumn Sonata is another one of Bergmans masterpiece. Despite not having seen Eva in seven years as Charlotte is absorbed solely in her own life, Charlotte agrees. Ingmar Bergman Directs Ingrid Bergman Although not a black and white Bergman film, but you can still see his powerful one of a kind direction from the get go. Ingrid plays a mother who, after forsaking her family for a music career, attempts a reconciliation with her oldest daughter (Liv Ullmann) through a night of painful revelation. Because of Leonardo's passing, Charlotte's daughter, Eva, formerly a journalist, has invited her mother for an extended stay at the country home where she lives with her minister husband Viktor. Love and Hate between Mother and Daughter Autumn Sonata - Charlotte is a celebrated pianist, but has never shown much concern for her daughter Eva. ![]() Of course, it has the Ingmar Bergman darkness to it. The grande dame, playing an icy concert pianist, is matched beat for beat in ferocity by the filmmaker’s recurring lead Liv Ullmann, as her eldest daughter. Fortunately Scandinavian vocal nuance is similar enough to English to enable us non-Swedish speakers to appreciate the acting. Autumn Sonata was the only collaboration between cinema’s two great Bergmans: Ingmar and Ingrid, the monumental star of Casablanca. The acting is simply amazing, even through the subtitles you can tell. Liv Ullman also has visual nuances to enhance her character - the glasses, platted hair and jumpers enabling this beautiful woman to look frumpy. Ingrid Bergman is terrific, despite a deliberately naff hairdo which makes her look like Queen Elizabeth II of the UK rather than the faded beauty she is. Ingrid Bergman and Liv Ullman are simply amazing together as a mother and daughter combination from hell. This is one of the very best Ingmar Bergman films I have seen, and therefore one of the very best films.
